stipend hike

Respected, Honourable Deputy CM, We the non service PG’s (MD, MS, MDS), super speciality PG’s (DM/MCH) and CRRI’s of Govt. Medical and Dental Colleges of Tamil Nadu, hereby would like to bring to your kind notice our plight through this mail. We had been requesting the Govt. regarding our stipend hike on and off over past 2 years. Despite our efforts, we weren’t provided with an appropriate response and hence we went on a token strike on 24th Feb 2009, with prior intimation to the Hon. Health minister. Following the token strike we met the Health Minister/Health secretary and were assured of a hike in the upcoming Health Budget after 6th Pay Commission which was supposed on 25th June. We met the minister on 23rd and came to know, we weren’t going to get any hike. We waited patiently so long, but there was no response from the Govt. Hence we decided to go on an indefinite strike from July 1st. We wore a black badge and resumed work to show our disappointment. We protested united throughout Tamil Nadu. The Health Minister called us on the 4th of June. But it wasn’t a proper negotiation, rather we were asked to oblige for a prefixed hike and were asked to call off our strike. The proposed hike didn’t meet even 50% of our demands. We would hereby like to put forth that the stipend we get here is least compared to all the other states in India, though our Health Care System is far ahead than them. What about the lives of those people who strive for it. You believe in equal pay for equal work. Then why are we denied of our genuine demands? We humbly request you to intervene in this issue and give a decision in favour of us so that the hospital work is not affected further. Thanking you, Yours sincerely, Non Service PG’s and CRRI’s (Tamil Nadu)

We protested united throughout Tamilnadu. The H’ ble Health Minister called us for talks on the 4th of June, but it was’nt a proper negotiation, rather we were asked to oblige for a pre-fixed hike and were asked to call off our strike. The proposed hike did’nt meet even 50% of our demands. We would hereby like to put forth that the stipend we get here is the least compared to all the other states in India. Though our state is far ahead than the other states in the health care system. What about the lives of those people who strive for it? You believe in equal pay for equal work. Then why are we denied of our genine demands? We humbly request you to intervene in this issue and give a decision in favour of us so that the hospital work will not be affected further. Thanking you, Yours sincerely, Non Service PG’s and CRRI’s (Tamil Nadu)

stipend hike
